Reporting to: Head of Technology
Salary range: £55-65K dependant on experience

To Lead the Platform & Infrastructure team within Technology and support the ongoing development of ASK4 systems (internal & client facing) and infrastructure improvements.
This includes (but not limited to) virtualisation, cloud, server, storage, monitoring and web technologies. It helps to have a keen interest in monitoring, cloud-technologies and modern approaches to managing & deploying services through automation & configuration management tools.
We work to improve not just our systems, but the way we work: identifying and assisting in improving workflows, empowering developers or ways to improve collaboration with our peers.
Guide development of the ASK4's technology stack as part of a wider technology team
Project management and implementations of systems
Improving Developer workflows
Continual Improvement for software delivery & automation initiatives
With other technical staff to produce documentation
Mentoring of technical staff
Escalation point for technical problems with systems
Contributing to the technical quality and timely delivery of projects and products
Adherence to Information Security policies and procedures
Creation / change to policies around System Acceptance & Compliance
A desire to discover, try & propose new ideas that have to potential to improve
Proactively identifying, suggesting and assisting in the delivery of improvements
Managing the quality of your work, in order to ensure the best product is delivered

Skills & Attributes
Strong, hands-on experience of the support of infrastructure services and strong technical skills.
Experience with Cloud technologies and Cloud transformation is extremely beneficial.
Excellent team leadership and management experience.
Extensive technical background, particularly within Infrastructure, and a hand on the pulse of the latest technologies and developments.
Commercial and vendor management expertise.
Linux (CentOS/RHEL preferred)
Web servers and load balancers, apache, nginx, haproxy
Monitoring technologies (old & modern): from nagios/icinga2 to prometheus, munin to netdata
Automation / configuration management (Ansible preferred)
Basic knowledge of git
An interest and ability to quickly adapt to new technology / approaches
Knowledge of ASK4 products & services.
Experience with client interaction and/or a customer service environment
Monitoring/observability (and why encouraging instrumentation & telemetry into our systems is a good thing)
CI/CD with GitLab (continuous integration and continuous delivery)
Virtualisation technologies (KVM). oVirt a bonus
Storage (Gluster, CEPH, DRBD) as well as traditional storage technologies
Ansible Tower / AWX
Experience with cloud based infrastructure providers (AWS preferred, EC2)
managing & deploying infrastructure in cloud environments
Grafana (development / API experience a bonus)
Service Discovery systems (Consul)
databases (ideally PostgreSQL)
Systems design experience and knowledge
