RESA, Spain’s leading student residence operator, and ASK4, a leading provider of managed high-speed Internet and WiFi services for multi-tenant buildings, announce the rollout of WiFi 7 across RESA’s residences, a milestone that positions RESA as a leading PBSA operator in Spain to offer this technology to its residents at scale.
The technology is already in place at the residences in Pamplona and Tarragona, the first two ASK4 residences in Europe to be equipped with WiFi 7, marking the beginning of a large-scale upgrade that will accelerate throughout this summer. RESA’s goal is to roll out WiFi 7 across more than 65% of its residence portfolio before the end of the year, making a two-generation technological leap by moving directly from WiFi 5 to WiFi 7.
With this move, RESA is taking a distinctive step in Spain’s student accommodation market and strengthening its position at the technological forefront of the sector. This evolution forms part of a structural transformation of its digital infrastructure to respond to the new demands of a hyperconnected generation of students, who increasingly require faster, more stable, and higher-capacity networks.
WiFi 7 has been designed for high-density, high-traffic environments, such as student residences, where each resident connects several devices simultaneously. This new technology enables faster, more stable connections with lower latency, tangibly improving students’ day-to-day experience, whether they are studying, working, communicating, consuming content or gaming online without interruptions.
In addition to raising service quality, the new infrastructure represents significant operational and technological advances. WiFi 7’s greater spectral efficiency enables coverage across buildings to be optimised more effectively, reduces the need for hardware, and supports progress towards a more energy-efficient network. At the same time, this architecture provides the foundation for future building digitalisation and automation projects, strengthening RESA’s ability to evolve towards increasingly smart residential environments.
According to Íñigo Pérez, Director of Technology and Digital Transformation at RESA:
“Last September, we announced our strategic alliance with ASK4 to prepare our buildings for the technological ecosystem of the future. Today, with the rollout of WiFi 7 across our residences, we are demonstrating that we are delivering on that vision. Making a two-generation technological leap in one move not only redefines our students’ experience, with unprecedented speeds and stability, but also consolidates the foundations of our digital transformation in a way that is much more efficient and sustainable for the building. At RESA, we are not following the standard: we are creating it.”
The rollout of WiFi 7 delivers one of the first major milestones of the strategic alliance that RESA and ASK4 renewed in September 2025 to equip the company’s entire residence network with next-generation digital infrastructure.
Tomás Sabán, Head of Business Development Iberia at ASK4, adds:
“WiFi 7 represents a very significant step forward in what we can offer residents, with greater speed, capacity, and reliability in their day-to-day lives. Pamplona and Tarragona are the first ASK4 residences in Europe to have WiFi 7, and we are delighted to reach this milestone alongside RESA. It is a clear example of the innovative, forward-looking approach that defines the alliance we have built together. Helping our partners lead through technology, rather than follow the market, is what drives our work.”
With this rollout, RESA and ASK4 are raising the standard of connectivity in Spain’s PBSA sector and opening a new chapter in the technological evolution of student accommodation, with infrastructure prepared to respond both to residents’ current needs and to the future demands of increasingly connected, efficient and smart buildings.
